That headroom is the point: the towel is not carrying 48kg, it is carrying its own weight plus absorbed water through repeated vibration on a moving frame, often in the wet. Weaker N35 magnets let go the first time a trolley hits a ridge. N52 is the strongest grade made and simply does not.

Fabric density third: 400GSM waffle microfibre holds roughly twice what a standard 200GSM towel does, so it is still lifting dirt on the back nine rather than smearing it.

400GSM is the number worth holding out for. GSM is grams per square metre, and a standard giveaway towel runs about 200GSM. Doubling the density roughly doubles how much water the same area absorbs, which is what decides whether the towel is still working on the back nine. On a compact 40 x 65cm magnetic towel that density matters more than on a longer towel, because there is less surface area to fall back on.

It will not attach to aluminium, carbon or the plastic hardware on many modern stand bags. The quick test is to run a fridge magnet along the frame you intend to use.
